“Five signs will become visible before the reappearance of the Qaim: Call from the sky, advent of Sufyani, splitting of the earth in the desert, advent of Yamani and killing of Nafse Zakiyyah (the pure soul).”

I asked: “How will it be announced?” He replied: “A caller will call out from the sky in the morning: Know that the truth is with Imam Ali (a.s) and his Shia. And then in the evening, Iblis will call out from the sky: Know that the truth is with Uthman and his followers.” At this time people of falsehood would fall into doubt.

“The kingdom of Bani so-and-so cannot decline till the two swords of so-and-so do not clash. When they clash, their kingdom will begin to decline.”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: It is an obligation on those who are poor to go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) once a year and on those who are wealthy to go twice a year.

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) about (the reward for) going to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.). Imam (a.s.) said, “Yes. It is equal to performing an ‘Umrah and one should not refrain from (going to) him for longer than four years.”

He who loves a disbeliever will hate Allah and whoever hates a disbeliever loves Allah. He (a) then added: The friend of Allah’s enemy is Allah’s enemy.

O Saeed, the Imams are twelve; when six of them pass away, Allah, the Mighty and the High would give ease to the seven of them and five persons from us, Ahle Bayt (a.s) will be Imams and through the sixth, sun would rise from the west.

Looking at non-Mahram women is one of the poisonous arrows of Shaitaan. Many a times, it is a cause of development of evil desires.”

I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) say: Go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) (as much as you can) even if it is only once a year. Verily those who go to his Ziyārah, believing in his rights and not denying (his status), will have no recompense but Paradise. They will be sustained with great wealth and Allāh will bring immediate relief to them. Verily Allāh has dedicated four thousand angels to the grave of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) who cry over him. They accompany everyone who goes to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) back to their families. If they (the Zuwwār) become ill, these angels will visit them. When they die, these angels will attend their funerals, seeking forgiveness for them and asking Allāh to have mercy on them. The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Ḥasan ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from his father, from Ḥasan ibn Maḥbūb, from Sabbāḥ Al-Ḥadhā, from Muḥammad ibn Marwān, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

The heavens never wept over anyone after the killing of Yaḥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) until Ḥusain (a.s.) was killed. And when he was killed, the heavens wept over him (also).”

I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (a.s.) say: Crying and jaza’ is disliked for the slaves (of Allāh) over any matter except crying and jaza’ over Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.). Verily the one who cries and acts impatiently over Ḥusain (a.s.) will be rewarded.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain (Imam Sajjād (a.s.)) cried over his father, Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.), for twenty years – or forty years – and whenever food was brought to him, he would cry over Ḥusain (a.s.). One day his servant said to him, “May I sacrifice myself for you, O son of the Messenger of Allāh! I am afraid that you will die (from grief).” He (Imam Sajjād (a.s.)) replied, “I only complain of my distress and grief to Allāh, and I know from Allāh what you do not know’ (12:86). Verily whenever I remember the killing of the children of Fāťimah (s.a.), I am choked with tears over them.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, passed by Ka‘b ibn ‘Ujrah. Lice spread from his head and he was in the state of Ihram. He (the Messenger of Allah) asked, ‘Do your bugs annoy you?’ He replied, ‘Yes, they annoy me.’ This verse of al-Quran was then revealed. ‘Those of you who become ill or find annoyance in their head expiate it by fasting or charity or an act of worship.’ (2:195) The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, commanded him to shave his head and made the fasting to be three days, charity to six destitute people two mud (a certain measurement) for each one and one sheep as an act of worship.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Wherever in al-Quran it is ‘or’ it is a reference to one’s having the choice to do what he likes, and wherever in al-Quran it says, ‘if one does not find then so and so’, then the first preference is one’s having the choice.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One in the state of Ihram must not cut any hair of al- Hallal (one who is not in the state of Ihram).”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one in the state of Ihram pulls out a hair from his beard or from other parts of his body, he must feed one destitute person in his hand (with one meal).”’

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who kills a wasp. He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is by mistake then there is nothing on him.’ I said, ‘No, it is done knowingly.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Feed a certain amount of food.’ I then asked, ‘Is it so even if it attacks me?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Anything that attacks, it is permissible for you to kill it.’”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one in the state of Ihram is afraid of beasts or snakes and so on, one can kill them, however, if they do not attack, one must not attack them.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Ticks are not from the camel. Al-Halamah is from the camel like lice are from your body, so do not throw them away; but throw away ticks.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘In the state of Ihram, it is permissible for one to slaughter the cow, the camel and the sheep. One can slaughter all of such birds which do not flip their wings in flight; and whatever is lawful for one who is not in the state of Ihram to slaughter in al- Haram (the sacred area), is lawful for one in the state of Ihram in non-al-Haram (the sacred area) and in al-Haram (the sacred area).’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one who is in the state of Ihram takes Ghusl (bath) due to sexual relation (because of which Ghusl (bath) is obligatory), he can pour water over his head and separate the hairs from each other with his fingers.’”
