Ahmad ibn `Isa ibn Zayd said: `Abd Allah ibn Musa ibn `Abd Allah ibn Hasan said, on the authority of his father, on the authority of his forefathers that Al-Hasan ibn `Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) was asked about the Word of Allah, the Mighty and High: Surely We have created everything according to a measure. He (AS) replied, “Verily, the Mighty and High, has said: We have created everything according to a measure for the dwellers of hell according to their deeds.”

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: Take initiative to the Gardens of Paradise. They said: And what are the Gardens of Paradise? He said: To shave one’s male genitals.

'Tell me, why did Allah (swt), the Mighty and Majestic, prescribe these five prayers at five specific times for your Ummah during the day and night?'" The Prophet, replied: "(As for the Dhuhr prayer), When the sun reaches its zenith, it enters a ring, and when it enters this ring, everything under the Throne praises the glory of my Lord (azj), the Exalted. It is at this hour that my Lord (azj), the Mighty and Majestic, sends blessings upon me, and therefore Allah (swt) made this hour obligatory for me and my Ummah as prayer, as He said: 'Establish prayer at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night' (Surah Al-Isra 17:78). This is also the hour when Hell will be brought forth on the Day of Resurrection. Thus, there is no believer who is in prostration, bowing, or standing at that hour except that Allah (swt) will make his body forbidden from the Fire. "As for the Asr prayer, it is the hour when Adam (as) ate from the tree and was expelled from Paradise. Allah (swt) commanded his progeny to perform this prayer until the Day of Judgment and chose it for my Ummah, making it one of the most beloved prayers to Allah (swt), the Mighty and Majestic. He instructed me to give it special care among the prayers. "As for the Maghrib prayer, it is the hour when Allah (swt) accepted Adam's (as) repentance. The time between when he ate from the tree and when Allah (swt) accepted his repentance was three hundred years of worldly time, equivalent to a day in the Hereafter, 'A day is like a thousand years' (Surah Al Hajj 22:47). Adam prayed three rak'ahs: one for his sin, one for Hawwa's (Eve’s) sin, and one for his repentance. Allah (swt) prescribed these three rak'ahs for my Ummah, and it is an hour when supplications are answered. My Lord (azj) has promised to accept the supplications of those who call upon Him at that hour, and it is the prayer my Lord (azj) commanded me to perform when He said: 'Glorify Allah (swt) when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning' (Surah Ar-Rum 30:17). "As for the Isha prayer, the grave has darkness, and the Day of Resurrection has darkness. My Lord (azj) commanded me and my Ummah to perform this prayer to illuminate the grave and to provide light on the Sirat (the bridge over Hell). No foot that walks to the Isha prayer will have its body made forbidden for the Fire, and this prayer was chosen by Allah (swt), the Exalted and Majestic, for the messengers before me. "As for the Fajr prayer, when the sun rises, it rises between the horns of Satan. My Lord (azj) commanded me to perform this prayer before sunrise so that my Ummah would prostrate to Allah (swt), the Mighty and Majestic, before the disbelievers prostrate to the sun. The hastening of this prayer is more beloved to Allah (swt), the Mighty and Majestic, and it is the prayer that is witnessed by the angels of the night and the angels of the day."

he said: "A group of Jews came to the Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the most learned among them asked him about certain matters. Among the questions he asked was: 'Why did Allah (swt), the Almighty, prescribe fasting during the day for your community for thirty days, while He prescribed fasting for more than that for other nations?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: 'When Adam (as) ate from the tree, the effect of it remained in his stomach for thirty days. Therefore, Allah (swt), the Almighty, prescribed for his progeny thirty days of hunger and thirst. And what they eat at night is a favor from Allah (swt), the Almighty, upon them. The same was the case with Adam (as). Thus, Allah (swt) prescribed it for my Ummah.' Then he recited this verse: "Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain taqwa. [It is for] a fixed number of days." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183) The Jewish man said: 'You have spoken the truth, O Muhammad (sw). What is the reward for one who fasts them?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) replied: 'No believer fasts the Month of Ramadan sincerely, seeking its reward, except that Allah (swt), Blessed and Exalted, grants him seven virtues: 1. The first is that the forbidden (haram) in his body melts away. 2. He will draw closer to the mercy of Allah (swt), the Almighty. 3. He will have atoned for the sin of his father, Adam (as). 4. Allah (swt) will ease for him the throes of death. 5. He will have security from hunger and thirst on the Day of Resurrection. 6. Allah (swt) will grant him immunity from the Fire. 7. Allah (swt), the Almighty, will feed him from the pure delights of Paradise.' The Jewish man said: 'You have spoken the truth, O Muhammad (sw).'"

The Blessed the Sublime God would give seven things to any believer who fasts during the month of Ramazan for the sake of God as follows: God would melt down any flesh that may gave grown on his body due to eating illegitimate food; the Honorable the Exalted God would make him closer to His Mercy; his act would be considered as an expiation for the sin of his great forefather Adam (MGB); God would ease the hardships of death for him; he shall be immune from thirst and hunger on the Resurrection Day; the Honorable the Exalted God would feed him with pure Heavenly foods; and the Honorable the Exalted God would grant him immunity from the Fire (of Hell).’ I said, ‘O Muhammad! You speak the truth.’”

“They are Adam, Eve, Abraham’s ram, the she-camel of Salih, the snake in Heaven, the raven which God sent for Cain to scratch the ground and show him how to bury his brother Abel , and the damned Satan - may the Blessed the Sublime God curse him.”

Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib reported me that when my father was nearing his death, he began to enjoy, saying: "This is testified by ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, the brother of Muhammad, messenger of Allah, his cousin, his successor and his companion. My first testament is that, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that, Muhammad is His messenger and His chosen one. He chose him by His knowledge and by His selection. And that Allah will resurrect all those in the graves and take the account of their deeds from the people; and He knows what they conceal in the hearts. Now, I enjoy upon you, O Hasan and you are a sufficient successor, all that the messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his progeny, enjoined me to do. When things are as they are, make it a habit to remain indoors and weep over your lapses. And do not let the worldly affairs become your main worry. And I enjoy upon you to perform daily prayers at their right time and to pay alms to the deserving people on the right occasion; and to remain silent when in doubt, and to maintain a balance in your acts, and to be just when pleased or angry, and to observe good neighbourliness and to be cordial to the guest, and kind to the one in difficulty and those in adversity, and to keep good relation with the kinsmen, and to love the poor and to give them company, and to remain humble, for that is the best form of worship, and to cut short your long deluding hopes and to remember death and to detach yourself from the worldly distraction, for indeed you are mortgaged to death, targeted by afflictions and illnesses. And I enjoy upon you to be in fear of Allah in your private as well as public affairs; and forbid you to be impetuous in speech and act. And when any matter concerning the life hereafter springs up before you, initiate it; and when any matter related to this world comes up, be patient till you are rightly guided about it. And refrain from being at places where you can be accused (of evil), and avoid the company of those who are known for the vices. Surely, an evil companion influences a change over his associate. O my son, always work for Allah and restrain from obscenity; and enjoy good and forbid evil. Promote brotherhood among friends for the sake of Allah; and love a righteous man for his virtue. Divert the sinful from (tampering with) your faith, and abhor him with your heart and break away from him by your deeds, so that you do not become like him. And avoid sitting in the streets and hold back from arguments and disputations with those who neither have wisdom nor knowledge. Be economic in your living and also maintain a balance in your acts of devotion and worship; adopting among them that which you can perform with regularity. Remain silent and you will be saved, and send forth in advance for yourself and you will benefit. Learn the ways of good and you will know, and always remember Allah. And be kind to the tender ones in your family and show reverence to the older ones. And do not eat any food till you have given away from it in charity before eating it. And have a habit of fasting, for that is the purification of the body and a shield for its people. Fight your base desires, warn your friends, avoid your enemies and attend the gatherings where Allah is remembered. Be frequent in your supplications, for I am not going to be back for advising you - and this indeed is the parting between us. And I enjoy upon you to be kind to Muhammad, who is your brother; the son of your father. And you know how much I love him. And as for your brother al-Husayn, he is your mother’s son; and I do not wish to add anything to that. I leave you in the care of Allah and to Him I pray for your well being and beseech Him to save you from the rebellious despots. I enjoy upon you patience, patience, till Allah decrees His command and there is no might but by Allah, Most High, Most Powerful."

“A Shiite will not be at a loss no matter how he dies, whether he is eaten by wild beasts, burnt, drowned, hung or killed. I swear by God that he is among the ranks of the righteous ones and martyrs.”

No banner proceeded to battle against Amir al-Mu’minin (as) except that Allah defeated it [through him] and made him triumphant over its companions and made them turn back in shame. None struck by Amir al-Mu’minin’s sword, the dhulfiqar, prevailed. When he would fight, Gabriel would fight on his right side, Michael would be on his left side, and the Angel of Death would be in front of him.

I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: I am the Master of the Prophets, and `Ali b. Abi Talib is the Master of the Deputies, and al-Hasan and al-Husayn are the Masters of the Youth of the People of Paradise, and the Imams after them are the Masters of the Godfearing. Our friends are the friends of Allah, and our enemies are the enemies of Allah. Obedience to us is obedience to Allah, and disobedience of us is disobedience of Allah.

“I am at Your service, O Allah, I am at Your service.” (labbayk allahumma labbayk) He would not be seen in any condition except that he would be remembering Allah. He was the most truthful of people in words and the most eloquent of them in speech. It was proposed to Mu`awiya one day: “If you order al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Abi Talib to climb the pulpit, his defects will become clear to the people.” So, he called for him and said to him: “Climb the pulpit and speak words that will exhort us.” So, he (as) stood, climbed the pulpit, praised and commended Allah, and said: “O people! Whoever knows me knows me, and whoever does not know me: I am al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Abi Talib. I am the son of the Mistress of Women Fatima the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (s). I am the son of the best of Allah’s creation. I am the son of the Messenger of Allah. I am the son of the possessor of merit. I am the son of the possessor of miracles and signs. I am the son of Amir al-Mu’minin. I am the one who has been ejected from my right. I and my brother al-Husayn are the Two Masters of the Youth of Paradise. I am the son of the rukn and the maqam. I am the son of Mecca and Mina. I am the son of al-Mash`ar (in Muzdalifa) and `Arafat.” So, Mu`awiya said to him: “O Aba Muhammad, take a date and leave this.” So, he (as) said: “Wind expands it, heat ripens it, and cold sweetens it.” Then, he (as) returned to his speech. He said: “I am the Imam of the creation of Allah. I am the son of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah.” So, Mu`awiya was too humiliated to speak thereafter, as the people were enchanted by him. So, he said: “O Aba Muhammad! Descend, for what you have said is sufficient.” So, he descended.
