Hadith 653
۞
1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ya’qub b. Yazid from Muhammad b. Abi ’Umayr from Abdulrahman b. al-Hajjaj from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said
“If a servant has good expectations from Allah he will be rewarded according to his expectations. And one who expects bad will be meted out according to his ill expectations. This is the meaning of the words of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime: And that was your (evil) thought which you entertained about your Lord that has tumbled you down into perdition, so are you become of the lost ones.
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ یَعْقُوبَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ
إِنَّ آخِرَ عَبْدٍ یُؤْمَرُ بِهِ إِلَی النَّارِ فَیَلْتَفِتُ فَیَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَعْجِلُوهُ فَإِذَا أُتِیَ بِهِ قَالَ لَهُ عَبْدِی لِمَ الْتَفَتَّ فَیَقُولُ یَا رَبِّ مَا کَانَ ظَنِّی بِکَ هَذَا فَیَقُولُ اللَّهُ جَلَّ جَلَالُهُ عَبْدِی وَ مَا کَانَ ظَنُّکَ بِی فَیَقُولُ یَا رَبِّ کَانَ ظَنِّی بِکَ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِی خَطِیئَتِی وَ تُدْخِلَنِی جَنَّتَکَ فَیَقُولُ اللَّهُ مَلَائِکَتِی وَ عِزَّتِی وَ جَلَالِی وَ بَلَائِی وَ ارْتِفَاعِ مَکَانِی مَا ظَنَّ بِی هَذَا سَاعَهً مِنْ حَیَاتِهِ خَیْراً قَطُّ وَ لَوْ ظَنَّ بِی سَاعَهً مِنْ حَیَاتِهِ خَیْراً مَا رَوَّعْتُهُ بِالنَّارِ أَجِیزُوا لَهُ کَذِبَهُ وَ أَدْخِلُوهُ الْجَنَّهَ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَا ظَنَّ عَبْدٌ بِاللَّهِ خَیْراً إِلَّا کَانَ عِنْدَ ظَنِّهِ بِهِ وَ ذَلِکَ قَوْلُهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ وَ ذلِکُمْ ظَنُّکُمُ الَّذِی ظَنَنْتُمْ بِرَبِّکُمْ أَرْداکُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُمْ مِنَ الْخاسِرِینَ
