Hadith 651

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub who said it was narrated to me by Abu Ayoob’ from al-Wasafi from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said
“O Musa! There is no one to receive nearness like those among the near ones who cry out of My fear. There is no worshipper like one who worships Me keeping away from what I have prohibited. There is no one who beautifies Me more than those who abstain because they do not beautify themselves with those things they are independent of.” Musa (a.s.) asked the Lord, “O the Most Merciful of the merciful ones! What is the reward of those people?” Allah replied, “O Musa! Those who seek nearness fearing Me will be with My best friends where no ordinary person can come. I feel ashamed to inquire about the deeds of those who worship Me keeping away from what I have prohibited. One who seeks nearness to Me through abstinence in this world I will grant him every kind of paradise so that he may live wherever he likes.”
أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ قَالَ
حَدَّثَنِی أَبُو أَیُّوبَ عَنِ الْوَصَّافِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: فِیمَا نَاجَی بِهِ اللَّهُ مُوسَی ع عَلَی الطُّورِ أَنْ یَا مُوسَی أَبْلِغْ قَوْمَکَ أَنَّهُ مَا یَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَیَّ الْمُتَقَرِّبُونَ بِمِثْلِ الْبُکَاءِ مِنْ خَشْیَتِی وَ مَا تَعَبَّدَ إِلَیَّ الْمُتَعَبِّدُونَ بِمِثْلِ الْوَرَعِ عَنْ مَحَارِمِی وَ لَا تَزَیَّنَ لِیَ الْمُتَزَیِّنُونَ بِمِثْلِ الزُّهْدِ فِی الدُّنْیَا عَمَّا بِهِمُ الْغِنَی عَنْهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ مُوسَی ع یَا أَکْرَمَ الْأَکْرَمِینَ فَمَا ذَا أَثَبْتَهُمْ عَلَی ذَلِکَ فَقَالَ یَا مُوسَی أَمَّا الْمُتَقَرِّبُونَ إِلَیَّ بِالْبُکَاءِ مِنْ خَشْیَتِی فَهُمْ فِی الرَّفِیقِ الْأَعْلَی لَا یُشَارِکُهُمْ فِیهِ أَحَدٌ وَ أَمَّا الْمُتَعَبِّدُونَ إِلَیَّ بِالْوَرَعِ مِنْ مَحَارِمِی فإن [فَإِنِّی] أُفَتِّشُ النَّاسَ عَلَی أَعْمَالِهِمْ وَ لَا أُفَتِّشُهُمْ حَیَاءً مِنْهُمْ وَ أَمَّا الْمُتَقَرِّبُونَ إِلَیَّ بِالزُّهْدِ فِی الدُّنْیَا فَإِنِّی أَمْنَحُهُمُ الْجَنَّهَ بِحَذَافِیرِهَا یتبوءوا [یَتَبَوَّءُونَ] مِنْهَا حَیْثُ شاء [یَشَاءُونَ].
