Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, said: Mutual affection between fathers creates a relationship between the sons. Relationship is more in need of affection than affection is of relationship. ٣٠٨. وَقَالَ (عليه السلام): مَوَدَّةُ الْآبَاءِ قَرَابَةٌ بَيْنَ الْأَبْنَاءِ، وَالْقَرَابَةُ إِلَى الْمَوَدَّةِ أَحْوَجُ مِنَ الْمَوَدَّةِ إِلَى الْقَرَابَةِ. Similar narrations Mīzān al-Ḥikma #2483 Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Love does not need kinship so much as kinship needs love. Ghurar al-Ḥikam #6 Imam Ali (AS) said, The affection of parents is [the basis of] the relationship between siblings.
