Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, said: Many a single eating prevents several eatings. [1] ١٧١. وَقَالَ (عليه السلام): كَمْ مِنْ أَكْلَةٍ مَنَعَتْ أَكَلاَتٍ. Similar narrations Ghurar al-Ḥikam #519 Imam Ali (AS) said, How often has [the eating of] one food prevented [the eating of] other foods. Ghurar al-Ḥikam #4719 Imam Ali (AS) said, Beware of voraciousness, for how many a food has prevented numerous other foods [from being consumed]!
