Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘By Allah, were it not for fear of dissention among the Muslims, that they would return to disbelief and that the religion would be damaged, we would indeed have changed the situation [of leadership] as much as possible.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): وايمُ اللّهِ، لولا مَخافةُ الفُرقَةِ بَيْنَ المسلمينَ، وأن يَعودوا إلَى الكفرِ ويَعْوَرَّ الدِّينُ، لَكُنّا قد غَيّرْنا ذلكَ ما استَطَعْنا .
