Imam (as) said: "The distance between them should be measured, and whichever of the two is closer to him will be held responsible." 5180 - وَ سَأَلَ سَمَاعَةُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ : عَنْ رَجُلٍ يُوجَدُ قَتِيلاً فِي قَرْيَةٍ أَوْ بَيْنَ قَرْيَتَيْنِ قَالَ "يُقَاسُ بَيْنَهُمَا فَأَيَّتُهُمَا كَانَتْ إِلَيْهِ أَقْرَبَ ضُمِّنَتْ".
