Hadith 70

Hadith.1665 - It is narrated from Musadif, who said
I was with Abu Abdullah Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) on his land while they were harvesting. A beggar came asking for something, and I said, "May Allah (swt) provide for you."
The Imam (as) said: "Hold on! That is not for you to say until you have given three times. After you have given three times, if you give more, it is for you (to decide), and if you withhold, it is also for you (to decide)."
1665 - وَ رُوِيَ عَنْ مُصَادِفٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فِي أَرْضٍ لَهُ وَ هُمْ يَصْرِمُونَ فَجَاءَ سَائِلٌ يَسْأَلُ فَقُلْتُ اَللَّهُ يَرْزُقُكَ فَقَالَ «مَهْ لَيْسَ ذَاكَ لَكُمْ حَتَّى تُعْطُوا ثَلاَثَةً فَإِنْ أَعْطَيْتُمْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلَكُمْ وَ إِنْ أَمْسَكْتُمْ فَلَكُمْ».
