Imam Ali (AS) said, Death is preferable to succumbing to disgrace (or giving up freedom).
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : اَلمَوْتُ وَ لاابْتِذالُ الخِزْيَةِ (الحُرِّيَةُ)
