Imam Ali (AS) said, [In the Hereafter] the souls are held at ransom by the weight of their sins and have become certain of their unseen fates. Neither can good acts be added [to their record] nor are they given warning about their evil deeds [rather, the harsh punishment of hell awaits them].
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : فَالأرْواحُ مُرْتَهَنَةٌ بِثِقْلِ أعْبائِها مُوْقِنَةٌ بِغَيْبِ أنْبائِها لا تُسْتَزادُ مِنْ صالِحِ عَمَلِها وَ لا تُسْتَعْتَبُ مِنْ سَيِّءِ زَلَلِها
