Imam Ali (AS) said, Bring yourself to build ties with your brother when he cuts you off, and to be kind and seek closeness [to him] when he turns away from you, and to be near to him when he distances himself from you, and to assume that he has an excuse when he does something wrong to you – to the extent that you are like his servant, and as if he has done some great favour upon you. Beware however, not to do this where it is not befitting or with someone who is not worthy of it.
