Shaykh Muḥammad b. ʿAlī al-Ṣaduq
۞
10-22 My father, may God be pleased with him, narrated to us, he said: ʿAlī b. Ibrāhīm b. Hāshim narrated to us; from his father; from al-Ḥusayn b. al-Ḥasan al-Fārsī; from Sulaymān b. Ḥafṣ al-Baṣrī; from ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Ḥusayn b. Zayd b. ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib (ʿas); from his father; from Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad (ʿas); from his forefathers (ʿas); from ʿAlī (ʿas), who said that the Messenger of God (ṣ) said, "When God - Mighty and Exalted - had finished creating The Garden, and He had created it from two milks - one of gold and one of silver - and made its walls from rubies, its roof from emerald, its stones as pearls, its dust as saffron and fragrant musk, He said to it, 'speak.' It said, '
There is no god except You, the Living, the Constant. Whoever enters me shall rejoice.' God - Mighty and Exalted - answered it, 'by My Might, My Honour, My Splendour, and My Loftiness, never shall enter it one that persisted in drinking alcohol; nor one constantly given to intoxication; nor a calumniator - that is a slanderer; nor a wittol - meaning one without any shame for his household; nor a policeman - meaning a patrolman; nor a hermaphrodite - meaning one of both sexes; nor a graverobber - meaning a tomb raider; nor a tithe-taker; nor one who severs family relations; nor a libertarian rejector of Divine Pre-Destiny.'"
Notes
Tithe taking, or taking one-tenth of the property or wealth of someone, was a Jāhiliyyah-era practice that was done away with by Islām.
