5-26 Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ahmad ibn al-Walid - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Muhammad ibn al-Hassan al-Saffar quoted Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa, on the authority of Ali ibn al-Hikam, on the authority of Umar ibn Abdul-Malik al-Hazrami, on the authority of Abu Bakr al-Hazrami, “Abi Ja’far al-Baqir (MGB) asked me, ‘O Abu Bakr! Do you know how the prayer over the dead is?’ I answered, ‘No.’ The Imam (MGB) said, ‘
There are five Takbirs (saying God is Great) in the prayer over the dead. Do you know why there are five?’ I said, ‘No.’ The Imam (MGB) said, ‘The five has been derived from the five daily prayers - one Takbir from each.’”
