11-1 My father, may God be pleased with him, narrated to us, he said
Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā al-ʿAṭṭār narrated to us; from Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Yaḥyā b. ʿImrān al-Ashʿarī; from ʿAlī b. Muḥammad; from an unnamed man; from Sulaymān b. Ziyād al-Minqarī; from ʿAmr b. Shimr; from Ismāʿīl al-Suddī; from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Sābiṭ al-Qurashī; from Jābir b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṣārī, who said regarding God's saying in his book, concerning the story of Joseph (ʿas), "I saw eleven planets, and the sun and the moon: I saw them prostrating themselves before me." Jābir gave the names of the stars as follows, "They are al-Ṭāriq, Jarbān, al-Dhayyāl, Dhū al-Kanafān, Dhū al-Qarʿ, Qābis, Waththāb, ʿAmūdān, Faylaq, Muṣbiḥ, al-Ḍarūḥ, al-Ḍiyāʾ, and al-Nūr, the latter two being the sun and the moon. All of these stars surround the sky."

Notes
The exact readings of the names of these planets differ between recensions, even between manuscripts of al-Khiṣāl (e.g., the variant cited in Biḥār al-Anwār vol. 12 pg. 263), and also compare to Tafsīr al-Qummī vol. 1 pg. 339, al-Mustadrak ʿAlā al-Ṣaḥīḥayn vol. 4 pg. 396, Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid vol. 7 pg. 39, al-Bidāyah wa al-Nihāyah vol. 1 pg. 186, and Tafsīr al-Ṭabarī #18780. The Suddī in the chain is the famous Sunnī mufassir (exegetical commentator).
