“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin was asked about a package of food which is found having been left on the road, in which there is a large amount of meat, bread, eggs and cheese and there is a knife in it. ’Amir al-Mu’minin said, ‘It must be evaluated and its contents used for food because it is perishable; and if someone claims it, the evaluated price must be paid to him.’ It was said, ‘O ’Amir al-Mu’minin, it is not known if it belongs to a Muslim or it is a package of a Zoroastrian.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘They are free to use it until they know.”’
