Hadith 306

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn Salim and Muhammad ibn Humran from al-Walid ibn Sabih who has said the following
“I once went to visit abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and I met Zurarah who received me when he was coming out of the presence of the Imam. He (the Imam) said to me, ‘O Walid, is it not strange to you that Zurarah asks me about working for these people? What does he want me to say? Does he want me to say no, so that he can narrate it from me?’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘O Walid, when did the Shi ’ah ask about working for them? The Shi ’ah would only say, ‘You can eat their food, use their drink and live under their protection.’ When did the Shi‘ah ask about it (working for them)?”’
2- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُمْرَانَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ صَبِيحٍ قَالَ
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) فَاسْتَقْبَلَنِي زُرَارَةُ خَارِجاً مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَقَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) يَا وَلِيدُ أَمَا تَعْجَبُ مِنْ زُرَارَةَ سَأَلَنِي عَنْ أَعْمَالِ هَؤُلاءِ أَيَّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ يُرِيدُ أَيُرِيدُ أَنْ أَقُولَ لَهُ لا فَيَرْوِيَ ذَلِكَ عَنِّي ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا وَلِيدُ مَتَى كَانَتِ الشِّيعَةُ تَسْأَلُ عَنْ أَعْمَالِهِمْ إِنَّمَا كَانَتِ الشِّيعَةُ تَقُولُ يُؤْكَلُ مِنْ طَعَامِهِمْ وَيُشْرَبُ مِنْ شَرَابِهِمْ وَيُسْتَظَلُّ بِظِلِّهِمْ مَتَى كَانَتِ الشِّيعَةُ تَسْأَلُ عَنْ هَذَا.
