“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘If one plants wheat in a land and it does not come pure or the plantation grows with a great deal of barley, it is because of the injustice of his work to the piece of land that he owns or it is because of the injustice of his workers. Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, says, ‘. . . because of the injustice of Jews We made certain good things that were lawful, unlawful for them.’ (4:158) It was meat of camel, cow and sheep. He (the Imam) said, ‘Israel when eating the meat of camel would suffer pain in his lower back, thus he made eating of the meat of camel unlawful for himself, and this was before the coming of the Torah. When Torah came it did not make it unlawful but he did not eat.’”
