Hadith 295

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from certain persons of our people who has said the following
“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), was once asked about Tayammum. He (the Imam) read this verse of the Holy Quran: ‘You must cut off the hands of male and female thieves.’ (5:38) He (the Imam) mentioned this verse of the Holy Quran. ‘Wash your faces and hands upto (from) your elbows’ (5:6) and said, ‘Wipe on (the back of that part of) your palms which must be cut in case of theft and your Lord is not to forget.’”
2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ التَّيَمُّمِ فَتَلاَ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ وَالسَّارِقُ وَالسَّارِقَةُ فَاقْطَعُوا أَيْدِيَهُما وَقَالَ
فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرافِقِ قَالَ فَامْسَحْ عَلَى كَفَّيْكَ مِنْ حَيْثُ مَوْضِعِ الْقَطْعِ وَقَالَ وَما كانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيًّا.
