Hadith 1950
۞
2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ’Isma’il ibn Marrar from Yunus from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muskan from abu Bakr al- Hadramiy who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The Messenger of Allah made Zakat obligatory on nine categories of wealth wheat, barley, dates, raisins, gold, silver, camel, cows and sheep. Other kinds of wealth are exempt.’” “Yunus has said that the meaning of his words ‘Zakat is on nine things and other kinds are exempt,’ was applicable at the time of the beginning of his prophetic mission like Salah (prayer) which was of two Rak‘at in the beginning of his mission. Then the Messenger of Allah increased in it seven more Rak‘at. So also is Zakat. In the beginning of his mission it was due on nine things, then he made it due on all kinds of grains.”
