Hadith 9
۞
My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to me from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from Abi Jamila from Jabir from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir (as). He said
An angel from the angels passed by a man standing at the door to a house. So, the angel said to him: “O servant of Allah! What brought you to the door of this house?” He said: “I have a brother in it, and I want to greet him.” So, the angel said: “Is he a part of your immediate family, or do you need something from him?” He said: So, he said: “No, we are not related, nor do I need anything from him – only the brotherhood of Islam and his sanctity [as a believer]. I [only wish to] pledge myself to him and greet him in [the name of] Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” So, the angel said: “I am a messenger of Allah to you. He recites the salaam to you and says: ‘It is only I that you wanted [to greet], and I that you wanted to pledge to, so I have made Paradise obligatory for you, and I have relieved you from My anger, and I have delivered you from the Fire.’”
9 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني سعد بن عبد الله، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن أبي جميلة، عن جابر، عن أبي جعفر الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال
إن ملكا من الملائكة مر برجل قائم على باب دار، فقال له الملك: يا عبد الله، ما يقيمك على باب هذه الدار؟ قال: أخ لي فيها، أردت أن اسلم عليه. فقال الملك: هل بينك وبينه رحم ماسة، أو نزعتك إليه حاجة؟ قال: فقال: لا، ما بيني وبينه قرابة، ولا نزعتني إليه حاجة إلا أخوة الاسلام وحرمته، وأنا أتعاهده واسلم عليه في الله رب العالمين. فقال الملك: إني رسول الله إليك، وهو يقرئك السلام ويقول: إنما إياي أردت، ولي تعاهدت، وقد أوجبت لك الجنة، واعفيتك من غضبي، وأجرتك من النار (4).
