Hadith 817

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Ibrahim b. Hashim from al-Husayn b. Yazid al-Nawfali from Isma`il b. Muslim al-Sukuni. He said
Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad said: A riding animal has seven rights on its owner: (1) Do not make it carry more than it can handle, (2) do not make its back a sitting (loitering) place for conversation, (3) feed it when it disembarks, (4) do not brand its face, (5) do not strike its face, for it glorifies [Allah], (6) offer it water when it passes by it, (7) do not strike it when it is startled, for it sees what you do not.
2 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن الحسين بن يزيد النوفلي، عن إسماعيل بن مسلم السكوني، قال
قال الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام): للدابة على صاحبها سبعة حقوق: لا يحملها فوق طاقتها، ولا يتخذ ظهرها مجلسا يتحدث عليه، ويبدأ بعلفها إذا نزل، ولا يسمها في وجهها، ولا يضربها في وجهها فإنها تسبح، ويعرض عليها الماء إذا مر به، ولا يضربها على النفار ويضربها على العثار لانها ترى ما لا ترون (1).
