Friday prayer is an obligation and gathering to it with an Imam is an obligation. If a man abandons three Fridays without a reason, he will have abandoned three obligations, and none abandon three obligations without a reason except a hypocrite (munafiq). He (as) said: Whoever abandons the Friday prayer out of desire against it and against the Muslim congregation without a reason, then no prayer is [recorded] for him.
