Hadith 759

Muhammad b. `Umar al-Hafith al-Baghdadi narrated to us in the City of Peace (Baghdad). He said: Muhammad b. al-Qasim b. Zakariyya Abu `Abdillah and al-Husayn b. `Ali al-Sukuni narrated to us. They said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Sukuni narrated to us. He said: Salih b. Abi'l Aswad narrated to us from Abi'l Mathar al-Mudhari from Salam al-Ju`fi from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir (as) from Abi Burza from the Prophet (s). He said
Surely, Allah made a covenant to me regarding `Ali. I said: “O Lord! Reveal it to me.” He said: “Listen.” I said: “I am listening.” He said: “Surely, `Ali is the Banner of Guidance, the Imam of My friends, the light of those who obey Me, and the word that the Godfearing stick to. Whoever loves him has loved Me, and whoever obeys him has obeyed Me.”
23 - حدثنا محمد بن عمر الحافظ البغدادي بمدينة السلام، قال: حدثنا محمد بن القاسم بن زكريا أبو عبد الله والحسين بن علي السكوني (2)، قالا: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن السكوني (3)، قال: حدثنا صالح بن أبي الاسود، عن أبي المطهر المذاري (4)، عن سلام الجعفي، عن أبي جعفر الباقر (عليه السلام)، عن أبي برزة، عن النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله)، قال
إن الله عز وجل عهد إلي في علي عهدا. قلت: يا رب بينه لي. قال: اسمع. قلت: قد سمعت، قال: إن عليا راية الهدى، وإمام أوليائي، ونور من أطاعني، وهو الكلمة التي ألزمتها المتقين، من أحبه أحبني، ومن أطاعه أطاعني (5).
