Hadith 730
۞
My father narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Ja`far al-Himyari narrated to us from Musa b. Ja`far b. Wahb al-Baghdadi from `Ali b. Mu`abbad from `Ali b. Sulayman al-Nawfali from Fitr b. Khalifa from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said
When this verse was revealed, “When those who commit an indecency or wrong themselves remember Allah, He forgives them for their sins” (3:135), Iblis climbed a mountain in Mecca called Thawr. Then, he screamed at the top of his voice to his demons, so, they gathered to him. They said: “O our master! Why have you called for us?” He said: “This verse was revealed. Who will address it?” So, a demon from the devils stood and said: “I will address it through such-and-such.” He said: “It is not for you.” So, another stood and said the same, so he said: “It is not for you.” So, the slinking whisperer (al-waswas al-khannas) said: “I will address it.” He said: “Why?” He said: “I make promises and assurances to them until they fall into sin. When they fall into sin, I make them forget to repent.” So, he said: “It is for you.” So, he assigned him with [this task] until the Day of Resurrection.
5 - حدثنا أبي، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن جعفر الحميري، عن موسى بن جعفر بن وهب البغدادي، عن علي بن معبد، عن علي بن سليمان النوفلي، عن فطر ابن خليفة، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، قال
لما نزلت هذه الآية (والذين إذا فعلوا فاحشة أو ظلموا أنفسهم ذكروا الله فاستغفروا لذنوبهم) (2) صعد إبليس جبلا بمكة يقال له ثور، فصرخ بأعلى صوته بعفاريته فاجتمعوا إليه. فقالوا: يا سيدنا، لم دعوتنا؟ قال: نزلت هذه الآية، فمن لها؟ فقام عفريت من الشياطين، فقال: أنا لها بكذا وكذا. قال: لست لها. فقام آخر فقال مثل ذلك، فقال: لست لها. فقال الوسواس الخناس: أنا لها. قال: بماذا؟ قال: أعدهم وأمنيهم حتى يواقعوا الخطيئة، فإذا واقعوا الخطيئة أنسيتهم الاستغفار، فقال: أنت لها، فوكله بها إلى يوم القيامة (3).
