Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim b. Ahmad b. Hashim al-Mu’addab (ra) narrated to us. He said: Abu’l `Abbas Ahmad b. Yahya b. Zakariyya al-Qattan narrated to us. He said: Bakr b. `Abdullah b. Habib narrated to us. He said: Tamim b. Bahlul narrated to us. He said: Ja`far b. `Uthman al-Ahwal narrated to us. He said
Sulayman b. Mehran narrated to us. He said: I visited al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as), and with him was a delegation of Shi`a. So, I heard him say: O Shi`a! Be an adornment for us, and do not be a disgrace for us. Speak beautifully to the people. Guard your tongues and stop them from superfluous and ugly sayings.

دخلت على الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام) وعنده نفر من الشيعة، فسمعته وهو يقول: معاشر الشيعة، كونوا لنا زينا، ولا تكونوا علينا شينا، قولوا للناس حسنا، واحفظوا ألسنتكم وكفوها عن الفضول وقبيح القول (2).
