Hadith 558

Ahmad b. `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me from his father Ibrahim b. Hashim from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from Muhammad b. Yahya al-Kath`ami from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said
Aba Dharr (rh) passed by the Messenger of Allah (s) while Gabriel (as) was with him in the form of Dihya al-Kalbi. The Messenger of Allah (s) was paying attention to him. When he saw them both [together], he left them alone without breaking their conversation. So, Gabriel (as) said: O Muhammad! This Abu Dharr passed by us, but he did not deliver his salaam to us. Had he delivered his salaam to us, we would have returned his greeting. O Muhammad! He has a supplication that he uses that is known to the people of heaven. When I ascend to heaven, ask him about it. So, when Gabriel (as) was raised up, Abu Dharr came to the Prophet (s), so the Messenger of Allah (s) said: What prevented you, Aba Dharr, from delivering your salaam to us when you passed by us? So, he said: I thought, O Messenger of Allah, that the one with you was Dihya al-Kalbi, and that you were discussing a private matter. So, he said: That was Gabriel (as), Aba Dharr, and he said: “Had he delivered his salaam to us, we would have returned his greeting.” When Abu Dharr learned that it was Gabriel (as), he entered a state of regret – as much as Allah willed – for not delivering his salaam. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to him: What is this supplication that you supplicate with? He informed me that you have a supplication that is known in heaven. He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. I say: “O Allah! I ask You for faith in You and affirmation of Your Prophet, and wellness from every calamity, and thankfulness at wellness, and needlessness from the most evil of people (Allahumma inni as’alukal iman bika wal tasdiq bi nabiyyik, wal `afiyatu min jami`il bala’, wal shukr `alal `afiya, wal ghina `an sharer al-nas).”
3 - حدثنا أحمد بن علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثني أبي، عن أبيه إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن محمد بن يحيى الخثعمي، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال
إن أبا ذر (رحمه الله)، مر برسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) وعنده جبرئيل (عليه السلام) في صورة دحية الكلبي، وقد استخلاه رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله)، فلما رآهما انصرف عنهما، ولم يقطع كلامهما. فقال جبرئيل (عليه السلام): يا محمد، هذا أبو ذر قد مر بنا، ولم يسلم علينا، أما لو سلم علينا لرددنا عليه. يا محمد، إن له دعاء يدعو به معروفا عند أهل السماء، فسله عنه إذا عرجت إلى السماء. فلما ارتفع جبرئيل (عليه السلام) جاء أبو ذر إلى النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله)، فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): ما منعك - يا أبا ذر - أن تكون قد سلمت علينا حين مررت بنا؟ فقال: ظننت - يا رسول الله - أن الذي كان معك دحية الكلبي، قد استخليته لبعض شأنك. فقال: ذاك كان جبرئيل (عليه السلام) يا أبا ذر، وقد قال: أما لو سلم علينا لرددنا عليه. فلما علم أبو ذر أنه كان جبرئيل (عليه السلام) دخله من الندامة ما شاء الله حيث لم يسلم. فقال له رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): ما هذا الدعاء الذي تدعو به؟ فقد أخبرني أن لك دعاء معروفا في السماء. قال: نعم يا رسول الله، أقول: اللهم إني أسألك الايمان بك، والتصديق بنبيك، والعافية من جيمع البلاء، والشكر على العافية، والغنى عن شرار الناس (1).
