Hadith 247

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abu’l Khattab from Muhammad b. Isma`il b. Bazi` from Salih b. `Uqbah from Bashir al-Dihan. He said
I said to Abu `Abdillah (as): Sometimes I miss the Hajj, for I am on [the day of] `Arafa (practice of the pilgrims is that they halt at the `Arafa) near the grave of al-Husayn. He said: Well-done, O Bashir! Any believer who comes to the grave of al-Husayn (as), cognizant of his right on a day other than that of `Eid, twenty Hajj and twenty `Umra, approved and accepted, and twenty expeditions along with the sent Prophet or a Just Imam, are written down for him. And whoever comes on the day of `Eid, a hundred Hajj and a hundred `Umra and a hundred expeditions along with the sent Prophet or the Just Imam are written down for him. And whoever comes on the Day of `Arafa, cognizant of his right, a thousand Hajj and a thousand `Umra, approved, accepted, and a thousand expeditions along with the sent Prophet or the Just Imam are written down for him. He said: I said to him: And how will it be for me with the like of the mawqif (halting-spot, i.e. plains of `Arafat) (i.e. receive the same reward)? He said: So, he looked at me like the one infuriated. Then he said: O Bashir! Surely, when the believer comes on the day of `Arafa to the grave of al-Husayn (as) and washes in the Euphrates, then heads for it (the shrine), Allah writes down for every step a Hajj, with its rituals and I do not know it except that he said: and expedition.
227 / 11 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن صالح بن عقبة، عن بشير الدهان، قال
قلت لابي عبد الله (عليه السلام): ربما فاتني الحج فأعرف (4) عند قبر الحسين. قال: أحسنت يا بشير، أيما مؤمن أتى قبر الحسين (عليه السلام) عارفا بحقه في غير يوم عيد كتبت له عشرون حجة وعشرون عمرة مبرورات متقبلات وعشرون غزوة مع نبي مرسل أو إمام عادل، ومن أتاه في يوم عيد كتبت له مائة حجة ومائة عمرة ومائة غزوة مع نبي مرسل أو إمام عادل، ومن أتاه في يوم عرفة عارفا بحقه كتبت له ألف حجة وألف عمرة مبرورات متقبلات وألف غزوة مع نبي مرسل أو إمام عادل. قال: فقلت له: وكيف لي بمثل الموقف؟ قال: فنظر إلي شبه المغضب، ثم قال: يا بشير، إن المؤمن إذا أتى قبر الحسين (عليه السلام) يوم عرفة واغتسل بالفرات ثم توجه إليه، كتب الله عز وجل له بكل خطوة حجة بمناسكها، ولا أعلمه إلا قال: وغزوة (1).
