Hadith 126

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from al-Qasim b. Muhammad al-Isfahani from Sulayman b. Dawud al-Munqari from Hafs b. Ghiyath. He said
I said to al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as): Inform me about the saying of Allah, “The month of Ramadan, in which the Quran was revealed” (2:185) – how is it that the Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan when the Quran was revealed over a period of twenty years from beginning to end? So, he said: The Quran came down altogether in the month of Ramadan to the Bayt al-Ma`mur. Then, it was revealed from the Bayt al-Ma`mur over a period of twenty years.
5 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن القاسم بن محمد الاصبهاني، عن سليمان بن داود المنقري، عن حفص ابن غياث، قال
قلت للصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام): أخبرني عن قول الله عز وجل: (شهر رمضان الذي أنزل فيه القرءان) (2)، كيف أنزل القرآن في شهر رمضان، وإنما أنزل القرآن في مدة عشرين سنة، أوله وآخره؟ فقال (عليه السلام): أنزل القرآن جملة واحدة في شهر رمضان إلى البيت المعمور، ثم أنزل من البيت المعمور في مدة عشرين سنة (3).
