۞
It is not permissible to sacrifice except a grown camel – that which has completed five years and has entered its sixth. It is permissible to sacrifice a grown cow and goat that has completed one year and entered its second. It is permissible to sacrifice a lamb that has reached eight or nine months to a year. It is not permissible to sacrifice an animal with blemishes. A cow can suffice for five individuals if they are members of a family; a bull for one, and a camel for seven … A sacrifice is split into thirds: one third for eating, one third for gifting, and one third for charity.
