And the ghusl is in seventeen places: the ghusl of the seventeenth night of the month of Ramadan, and the nineteenth night, the twenty first night, and the twenty third night, and for the two Eids, for entering the two Sanctuaries, for donning ihram, the ghusl of ziyara, the ghusl of entering the House, the day of Tarwiya, the day of `Arafa, the ghusl of the deceased, the ghusl of the one who gave the ghusl of the deceased or did his kafan or touched him after he became cold, the ghusl of day of Jum`a, the ghusl of the eclipse – when the disc has been entirely eclipsed (lit. burnt) and the man did not know it – and the ghusl of janaba is an obligation (farida), and likewise is the ghusl of menstruation (al-hayd) for al-Sadiq (as) said: The ghusl of janaba and hayd is one. In every ghusl there is a wudu in its beginning except for the ghusl of janaba, for it is an obligation and when two obligations (fardan) convene then the greater of them suffices for the lesser of them.
