Hadith 1002
۞
It is the confirmation that the prayer is a pillar of the religion, and that it is first of what the servant will be reckoned by of his acts on the Day of the Resurrection, and the first of what the servant will be asked about after the recognition (al-ma`rifa) (i.e. of proper beliefs). So, if it is accepted, what is apart from it is [also] accepted, and if it is rejected, what is apart from it is [also] rejected. The obligation of the prayers in the day and night are five prayers, and they are seventeen units: Thuhr is four units, `Asr is four units, Maghrib is three units, the final `Isha is four units, and the morning (al-ghada i.e. Fajr) is two units.
