40. And with the former chain of narration from ‘Ali ibn Mahzyar, from Ibn Abi Umayr, from Hisham, from Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, who said
Amirul Mu’mineen, ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, used to say to the people at Kufa: ’O people of Kufa, do you think I am not aware of what can mend your ways? But I hate to redress your situation by corrupting myself!"
40 - وبالإسناد الأول عن علي بن مهزيار، عن ابن أبي عمير، عن هشام، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال
كان أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب صلوات الله عليه يقول للناس بالكوفة: يا أهل الكوفة أتروني لا أعلم ما يصلحكم؟! بلى ولكني أكره أن أصلحكم بفساد نفسي.
