Destiny's dominance over predetermination

459. Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, said: Destiny holds sway over (our) predetermination till effort itself brings about ruin.

as-Sayyid ar-Raḍī says: Something of this meaning has already appeared earlier though in words different from these.
