Imam Ali (AS) said, Teach your young children [how to perform the ritual] prayer and make them accountable for it when they reach puberty.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : عَلِّمُوا صِبْيانَكُمْ الصَّلاةَ وَ خُذُوهُمْ بِها إذا بَلَغُوا الحُلُمَ
