Imam Ali (AS) said, The worst misdeed is refusing to accept an excuse [that is valid].

hadith 3794
Imam Ali (AS) said, Do not dishearten a sinner, for how many a person who is occupied with his sin ends up being forgiven, and how many a person has embarked on a virtuous action which he corrupts at the end of his life and winds up in the fire of hell.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : لاتُؤْيِسَنَّ مُذْنِباً فَكَمْ عاكِف على ذَنْبِهِ خُتِمَ لَهُ بِالمَغْفِرَةِ وَ كَمْ مُقْبِل على عَمَل هُوَ مُفْسِدٌ لَهُ خُتِمَ لَهُ في آخِرِ عُمْرِهِ بِالنّارِ
