Imam Ali (AS) said, By the intelligence of the messenger and his etiquette, the intelligence of the sender [of the message] is gauged.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : بِعَقلِ الرَّسولِ وَ أدَبِهِ يُسْتَدَلُّ على عَقْلِ المُرْسِلِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, A persons messenger the interpreter of his reason, and his written message is more conveying than his speech.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : رَسُولُ الرَّجُلِ تَرْجُمانُ عَقْلِهِ وَ كِتابُهُ أبْلَغُ مِنْ نُطْقِهِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, You messenger is the interpreter of your intellect, and your tolerance is an indication of your forbearance.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : رَسُولُكَ تَرْجُمانُ عَقْلِكَ وَ احْتِمالُكَ دَليلُ حِلْمِكَ

Imam Ali (AS) said, Your messenger is the gauge of your nobility, and your pen is the most eloquent thing that speaks on your behalf.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : رَسُولُكَ ميزانُ نُبْلِكَ وَ قَلَمُكَ أبْلَغُ مَنْ يَنْطِقُ عَنْكَ
