Imam Ali (AS) said, The true scholar is one who neither makes people lose hope in the mercy of Allah nor cause them to despair of the comfort of Allah.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : اَلفَقِيهُ كُلُّ الفَقيهِ مَنْ لَمْ يُقَنِّطِ النّاسَ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللّهِ وَ لَمْ يُؤْيِسْهُمْ مِنْ رَوْحِ اللّهِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, The bane of scholars is not safeguarding themselves [from error].
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : آفَةُ الفُقَهاءِ عَدَمُ الصِّيانَةِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, When you [wish to] learn, then become learned in the religion of Allah.
