Imam Ali (AS) said, How can one know others when he is ignorant of himself?!
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : كَيْفَ يَعْرِفُ غَيْرَهُ مَنْ يَجْهَلُ نَفْسَهُ؟!

Imam Ali (AS) said, The cognizant one is he who knows his soul and thus frees it and purifies it from all that distances it [from the Truth] and destroys it.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : اَلعارِفُ مَنْ عَرَفَ نَفْسَهُ فَأَعْتَقَها وَ نَزَّهَها عَنْ كُلِّ ما يُبَعِّدُها وَيُوبِقُها
