Imam Ali (AS) said, And prayer [was prescribed] as a purification from arrogance.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : وَ الصَّلاةَ تَنْزيهاً عَنِ الكِبْرِ
