Imam Ali (AS) said, The one who listens to gossip is one of the two backbiters.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : اَلسّامِعُ لِلْغِيْبَةِ أحَدُ المُغتابَيْنِ

Imam Ali (AS) said, Beware of backbiting, for indeed it makes you hated by Allah and the people, and renders you rewards void.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : إيّاكَ وَ الغيبَةَ فَإنَّها تُمَقِّتُكَ إلَى اللّهِ وَ النّاسِ وَ تُحْبِطُ أجْرَكَ

Imam Ali (AS) said, O Servant of Allah, do not make haste in [exposing] the fault of a servant, for he may have been forgiven for it, and do not count yourself safe from [your] small sins as you might be punished for them.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : يا عَبْدَاللّهِ لاتَعْجَلْ في عَيْبِ عَبْد بِذَنْبِهِ فَلَعَلَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَهُ وَ لاتَأْمَنْ عَلى نَفْسِكَ صَغيرَ مَعْصية فَلَعَلَّكَ مُعَذَّبٌ عَلَيْها
