2-125 Al-Khalīl b. Aḥmad informed me, he said: Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Sarrāj informed us, he said: ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar narrated to us, he said: Wakīʿ b. al-Jarrāḥ narrated to us; from Sufyān; from Manṣūr; from Khaythamah; from ʿAbd Allāh; from the Messenger of God (ṣ), who said
"None should remain awake after ʿIshāʾ prayers except either of two men: the one praying or the traveller."
Notes
ʿAbd Allāh here appears to be ʿAbd Allāh b. Masʿūd, who narrates this same tradition in Musnad Aḥmad vol. 4 pg. 212, and in Sunan al-Tirmidhī, with some variation in wording.
