The Case of Four Wives and Divorcing one to Marry another before the end of the ‘Iddah (waiting period) or Marries Five Women at one Time

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a man accumulates four wives then divorces one, he cannot marry the fifth before the end of waiting period of the woman whom he has divorced.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘A man cannot deposit his water in five.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu Ibrahim (a.s.), about the case of a man who has four wives; if he can divorce one and marry in her place another one. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he cannot do so until her waiting period is complete.’”
