Hadith 88
1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from the virtuous servant (of Allah) (a.s.), who has said the following
“He (the virtuous servant of Allah, the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘ ‘Aqiqah is obligatory when a child is born to one, and if he likes to give him a name on that day he can do so.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنِ الْعَبْدِ الصَّالِحِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
الْعَقِيقَةُ وَاجِبَةٌ إِذَا وُلِدَ لِلرَّجُلِ وَلَدٌ فَإِنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُسَمِّيَهُ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ فَعَلَ .

Hadith 89
2. Al-Husayn from Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad and Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad all from al-Washsha’ from Ahmad ibn ‘ A’idh from abu Khadijah who has said the following
“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’Every newborn child is safeguarded with ‘Aqiqah.’”
الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ جَمِيعاً عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَائِذٍ عَنْ أَبِي خَدِيجَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ مُرْتَهَنٌ بِالْعَقِيقَةِ .

Hadith 90
3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Musa ibn Sa‘dan from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Qasim from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan from ‘Umar ibn Yazid who has said the following
“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I by Allah do not know if my father had made ‘Aqiqah for me or not.’ He (the narrator) has said, ‘Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), commanded me and I made ‘Aqiqah for myself when I was an old man.’ ‘Umar has said, ‘I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, “Every man is safeguarded with his ‘Aqiqah and ‘Aqiqah is more urgently needed than Adhiyah (sacrifice animal).’””
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ سَعْدَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) إِنِّي وَ اللَّهِ مَا أَدْرِي كَانَ أَبِي عَقَّ عَنِّي أَمْ لَا قَالَ فَأَمَرَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فَعَقَقْتُ عَنْ نَفْسِي وَ أَنَا شَيْخٌوَ قَالَ عُمَرُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مُرْتَهَنٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ وَ الْعَقِيقَةُ أَوْجَبُ مِنَ الْأُضْحِيَّةِ .

Hadith 91
4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from Ahmad ibn al-Hassan from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqah from ’Ammar ibn Musa al-Sabatiy who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Every newborn is safeguarded with ‘Aqiqah.’”
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُصَدِّقِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ مُوسَى السَّابَاطِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ مُرْتَهَنٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ .

Hadith 92
5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ’Isma‘il ibn Marrar from Yunus from abu Basir who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about ‘ Aqiqah : if it is obligatory or not. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is obligatory.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مَرَّارٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ أَ وَاجِبَةٌ هِيَ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَاجِبَةٌ .

Hadith 93
6. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan from ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr who has said the following
“Once I was with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), when a messenger from his uncle came and said, ‘Your uncle says, “We tried to find ‘Aqiqah but could not find one. Do you think our giving its price in charity is sufficient?”’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, Allah loves feeding of food and slaughtering animals (to feeding the needy).”’
أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فَجَاءَهُ رَسُولُ عَمِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَقُولُ لَكَ عَمُّكَ إِنَّا طَلَبْنَا الْعَقِيقَةَ فَلَمْ نَجِدْهَا فَمَا تَرَى نَتَصَدَّقُ بِثَمَنِهَا فَقَالَ لَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ إِطْعَامَ الطَّعَامِ وَ إِرَاقَةَ الدِّمَاءِ .

Hadith 94
7. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from abu al-Mighra’ from Ali who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, “Aqiqah is obligatory.’”
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْمَغْرَاءِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
الْعَقِيقَةُ وَاجِبَةٌ.

Hadith 95
8. Ali has narrated from father from ’Isma‘il ibn Marrar from Yunus and Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, all from abu Ayyub al-Khazzaz from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following
"Two boys were born to Abu Ja'far (a.s.). So, he ordered Zaid ibn Ali to buy for him two sheep for the 'Aqiqah (the sacrifice for a newborn). It was a time when prices were high, so he bought one, and the other was difficult for him (to buy). He said to Abu Ja'far (a.s.): "The other one was difficult for me, so give charity with its price." He replied, "I will not seek to find one until it becomes possible for you, for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, loves the shedding of blood (sacrificing animals) and the feeding of food (to the needy)."
عَلِيٌّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مَرَّارٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ وَ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ جَمِيعاً عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْخَزَّازِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ
وُلِدَ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) غُلَامَانِ جَمِيعاً فَأَمَرَ زَيْدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ لَهُ جَزُورَيْنِ لِلْعَقِيقَةِ وَ كَانَ زَمَنُ غَلَاءٍ فَاشْتَرَى لَهُ وَاحِدَةً وَ عَسُرَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْأُخْرَى فَقَالَ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) قَدْ عَسُرَتْ عَلَيَّ الْأُخْرَى فَتَصَدَّقْ بِثَمَنِهَا فَقَالَ لَا اطْلُبْهَا حَتَّى تَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهَا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يُحِبُّ إِهْرَاقَ الدِّمَاءِ وَ إِطْعَامَ الطَّعَامِ .

Hadith 96
9. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Washsha’ from ‘ Abd Allah ibn Sinan from Mu’adh al-farra’ who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The boy is safeguarded on the seventh day from his birth with giving him a name and slaughtering of a ram for ‘Aqiqah.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Fatimah ‘Alayha al-Salam, shaved (the heads) of her two sons and gave in charity of silver by the weight of their hair.’”
الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ الْفَرَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ
الْغُلَامُ رَهْنٌ بِسَابِعِهِ بِكَبْشٍ يُسَمَّى فِيهِ وَ يُعَقُّ عَنْهُوَ قَالَ إِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ ( عليها السلام ) حَلَقَتْ ابْنَيْهَا وَ تَصَدَّقَتْ بِوَزْنِ شَعْرِهِمَا فِضَّةً .
