“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about al- ‘Atiqah (old) wine which is turned into vinegar. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘Every night in the month of Ramadan, Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, liberates many people and releases them from hellfire, except those who drink intoxicating liquor. During the last night of this month, Allah frees and releases a number of people equal to all that He had freed during the whole month.’”

“Yunus and I were in Baghdad. I walked with him in the market. An owner of beer opened the container of his beer and drops from it came in contact with clothes of Yunus and I saw him depressed until it became Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime). I asked him, ‘O abu Muhammad, do you want to perform Salah (prayer)?’ He said, ‘I do not want to perform Salah (prayer) until I return home and wash this wine from my clothes.’ I then said, ‘Is this your opinion or it is something you narrate.’ He said, ‘Hisham ibn al-Hakam has narrated that he asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about beer. He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not drink it; it is unknown wine. If it pollutes your clothes, wash them clean.’”

The following three groups of people will not enter Paradise: the alcoholics; the magicians; and those who cut-off relations of kin. The Honorable the Exalted God will feed whoever dies as an alcoholic from the Al-Qota river.” He (MGB) was asked what Al-Qota river is. He (MGB) replied, “It is a river formed of the detestable things which flow out of the vaginas of sluts and is even bothersome to the people of Hell.”
