"The Commander of the Faithful (as) ruled that if the eye of a horse is gouged out, the compensation is a quarter of its value on the day its eye was gouged out."

"If a man kills his mother by mistake, he inherits from her. However, if he kills her intentionally, he does not inherit from her."

I asked Imam (as) about a man who bequeathed a portion of his wealth - a third or a fourth - to another man. Then, the man (the testator) was mistakenly killed. Imam (as) said: "The will is to be executed from his wealth and from his blood money (diyyah)."

“Abu Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘A woman inherits from the wergild of her husband and her husband inherits from the wergild of his wife as long as one of them does not kill the other partner.’”

"Commander of the Faithful (as) ruled in the case of a group of people who slaughtered a camel and ate it. They were investigated to determine who among them had slaughtered it, and they all testified against themselves that they had collectively slaughtered it without specifying any individual over another. So, Imam (as) ruled that their right hands be cut off."

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ’From the wergild the heirs receive according to their ordained shares except brothers and sisters from the mother’s side who do not inherit anything thereof.’”

"The Commander of the Faithful (as) said: "A man or a woman shall not be flogged until four witnesses testify explicitly to the act of penetration and withdrawal." Imam (as) also said: "I will not be the first among the four witnesses because I fear that one of them might retract their testimony, and I would then be subjected to flogging."

he was asked about a married woman who committed adultery and became pregnant. After giving birth, she secretly killed her child. Imam (as) said: 'She is to be lashed one hundred times for committing fornication, another hundred lashes for killing her child, and she is to be stoned because she was married (muhsanah).' I then asked him about an unmarried woman who committed fornication, became pregnant, and then secretly killed her child. Imam (as) said: 'She is to be lashed one hundred times for committing fornication and another hundred lashes for killing her child.'

“This is about the case of a man against whom two men had testified for theft, thus his hand was cut off and thereafter the two witnesses brought another man saying that this was the thief and not the one whose hand was cut off but we were only confused about it. Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said that ’ Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali, Alayhi al-Salam, issued a judgment. It required the two to pay one-half of the wergild and did not accept their testimony against the other man.’”

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: The one who performs a sin or gives refuge to a sinner, upon him is the curse of Allah, the Angels and the people, all of them. Ransom and disbursal will not be accepted from him on the Day of Resurrection. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the sin? He said: The one who kills a soul for other than (the cause of) another soul, mutilates for other than retaliation, invents an innovation with other than a tradition or seizes a prey of value. He said: Then it was said: What is the ransom, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Redemption. He said: Then it was said: What is the dispursal, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Repentance.
