hadith 1740
Imam Sadiq (a.s) said: “God's Prophet (a.s) was asked: “Which people suffer the most in this world?” The Prophet (a.s) said: “The Prophets. Then those who are most similar to them. Then the believers will suffer according to the degree of their faith and good deeds. The stronger their faith, and the more their good deeds are, the worst will their sufferings be.”
عنه (عليه السلام) قال
سئل رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من أشد الناس بلاء في الدنيا؟ فقال: النبيون ثم الأمثل فالأمثل، ويبتلي المؤمن بعد على قدر إيمانه وحسن أعماله، فمن صح إيمانه وحسن عمله اشتد بلاؤه، ومن سخف إيمانه وضعف عمله قل بلاؤه.

hadith 1548
8. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from al-Harith ibn Bahram from ‘Amr ibn Jumay’ who has said the following
“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘A believer continues facing anxiety and sadness in this world until he leaves it with no sins in him.’”
8ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ بَهْرَامَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ جُمَيْعٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَيَهْتَمُّ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ مِنْهَا وَلا ذَنْبَ عَلَيْهِ.

86. Ali, from his father, from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from Abu Maalik Al-Hazramy, from Hamza Bin Humran, who has said
Abu Abdullah (asws) having said: ‘There are three things from which except for a Nabi (as) no one else is safe from – The ‘الْوَسْوَسَةِ’ untrue perception about the creation, and the ‘الطِّيَرَةُ’ pessimism/depression and the ‘الْحَسَدُ’ jealousy , except that believer does not make use of his jealousy’.
عَلِيٌّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلام) قَالَ
ثَلَاثَةٌ لَمْ يَنْجُ مِنْهَا نَبِيٌّ فَمَنْ دُونَهُ التَّفَكُّرُ فِي الْوَسْوَسَةِ فِي الْخَلْقِ وَ الطِّيَرَةُ وَ الْحَسَدُ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَا يَسْتَعْمِلُ حَسَدَهُ.

hadith 917
17. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from certain individuals of his people from al-Husayn ibn al-Mukhtar from abu ‘Usamah from Humran from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following
“Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has an undertaking to try the believers with misfortune just as a man is committed to send gifts to his family in his absence. He holds him (believer) back from the worldly things just as the physicians hold back a patient from certain items of food.”
17ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْمُخْتَارِ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ عَنْ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
إِنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيَتَعَاهَدُ الْمُؤْمِنَ بِالْبَلاءِ كَمَا يَتَعَاهَدُ الرَّجُلُ أَهْلَهُ بِالْهَدِيَّةِ مِنَ الْغَيْبَةِ وَيَحْمِيهِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَا يَحْمِي الطَّبِيبُ الْمَرِيضَ.

3. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from his father from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from abu Ayyub from Muhammad ibn Muslim from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following
“No two fierce wolves in a flock of sheep without a shepherd, one wolf on either side is as quick (to destroy them) as the love of property and honor (popularity) is to destroy the religion of a believer.”
3ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
مَا ذِئْبَانِ ضَارِيَانِ فِي غَنَمٍ لَيْسَ لَهَا رَاعٍ هَذَا فِي أَوَّلِهَا وَهَذَا فِي آخِرِهَا بِأَسْرَعَ فِيهَا مِنْ حُبِّ الْمَالِ وَالشَّرَفِ فِي دِينِ الْمُؤْمِنِ.

5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from certain persons of his people who has said the following
“I once asked abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), about a man who is for al-Hajj al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous), and has clothes in his bag; if he can sell them and buy offering animal from the sale of the clothes. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, believers dress up with clothes. He must fast and must not take anything from his clothes.”’
5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم) قَالَ
قُلْتُ لَهُ رَجُلٌ تَمَتَّعَ بِالْعُمْرَةِ إِلَى الْحَجِّ فِي عَيْبَتِهِ ثِيَابٌ لَهُ يَبِيعُ مِنْ ثِيَابِهِ وَيَشْتَرِي هَدْيَهُ قَالَ لا هَذَا يَتَزَيَّنُ بِهِ الْمُؤْمِنُ يَصُومُ وَلا يَأْخُذُ شَيْئاً مِنْ ثِيَابِهِ.

1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan from Ibrahim ibn Muslim from abu Shibl who has said the following
“When a believing person shaves his head and buries his hairs in Mina, on the Day of Judgment every hair comes with a clear tongue, saying Talbiyah (here I am, O Lord, to obey Your command) for the one to whom they belonged.”
1ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي شِبْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم) قَالَ
إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ إِذَا حَلَقَ رَأْسَهُ بِمِنًى ثُمَّ دَفَنَهُ جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَكُلُّ شَعْرَةٍ لَهَا لِسَانٌ طَلْقٌ تُلَبِّي بِاسْمِ صَاحِبِهَا.

161. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Marouk Bin Ubeyd, from Rafa’at, who has narrated the following
Abu Abdullah (asws) having said: ‘Do you know, O Rafa’at, why the ‘الْمُؤْمِنُ’ Believer is called ‘Momin’?’ I said, ‘I do not know’. He (asws) said: ‘Because he entrusts himself to Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic, so Allah (azwj) Authorises safety for him’.
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مَرْوَكِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلام) قَالَ
قَالَ أَ تَدْرِي يَا رِفَاعَةُ لِمَ سُمِّيَ الْمُؤْمِنُ مُؤْمِناً قَالَ قُلْتُ لَا أَدْرِي قَالَ لِأَنَّهُ يُؤْمِنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَيُجِيزُ [اللَّهُ] لَهُ أَمَانَهُ.

hadith 877
16. It is narrated from him (narrator of previous Hadith) from ‘Abd al-Mu’min from Dawud ibn Sulayman al-Jassas from ‘Adhafir who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once asked, ‘What prevents you from performing Hajj every year?’ I replied, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause; my dependents prevent me from performing Hajj.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If you die who will be there for your dependents? You should feed your dependents vinegar and oil and perform Hajj with them every year.’”
16ـ وَعَنْهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ الْجَصَّاصِ عَنْ عُذَافِرٍ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم) مَا يَمْنَعُكَ مِنَ الْحَجِّ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ الْعِيَالُ قَالَ فَقَالَ إِذَا مِتَّ فَمَنْ لِعِيَالِكَ أَطْعِمْ عِيَالَكَ الْخَلَّ وَالزَّيْتَ وَحُجَّ بِهِمْ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ.

1. From the previous chain from al-Hassan b. Jawrawayh b. Abi al-’Ala from Abi al-Sabah from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said
“One who recites Ha Mim Momin every night, Allah forgives him all his past and future sins and makes compulsory for him the word of piety (that is he would be inclined to it) and makes the hereafter for him better than the world.”
بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ جُوَیْرِیَهَ بْنِ أَبِی الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِی الصَّبَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ
مَنْ قَرَأَ حم الْمُؤْمِنَ فِی کُلِّ لَیْلَهٍ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَ مَا تَأَخَّرَ وَ أَلْزَمَهُ کَلِمَهَ التَّقْوی وَ جَعَلَ الْآخِرَهَ خَیْراً لَهُ مِنَ الدُّنْیَا.

From my father (ra) through Saʿd ibn ʿAbdullāh, from Muʿāwiyah ibn Ḥukaim, from Muʿammar ibn Khallād, from Abū al-Ḥasan al-Riḍā (AS), from his father, who said that Abū ʿAbdullāh (AS) stated: "The salvation of a believer lies in safeguarding his tongue." And Amīr al-Muʾminīn (AS) said
"Whoever safeguards his tongue, Allah will conceal his faults."
أَبِی ره عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُعَاوِیَهَ بْنِ حُکَیْمٍ عَنْ مُعَمَّرِ بْنِ خَلَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ع عَنْ أَبِیهِ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع نَجَاهُ الْمُؤْمِنِ فِی حِفْظِ لِسَانِهِ. وَ قَالَ أَمِیرُ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ ع مَنْ حَفِظَ لِسَانَهُ سَتَرَ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ.

4. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ibn Mahbub from Hisham ibn Salim from Aban ibn Taghlib who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘A believer may suffer a nightmare so his sins are forgiven or is bodily humiliated so his sins are forgiven.’”
4ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ تَغْلِبَ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَيُهَوَّلُ عَلَيْهِ فِي نَوْمِهِ فَيُغْفَرُ لَهُ ذُنُوبُهُ وَإِنَّهُ لَيُمْتَهَنُ فِي بَدَنِهِ فَيُغْفَرُ لَهُ ذُنُوبُهُ.

8. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Satan continues to be afraid of a believing person as long as he protects his five times daily Salah (prayers), but when he loses them, Satan becomes daring, then he takes him into great sins.’”
8ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) لاَ يَزَالُ الشَّيْطَانُ ذَعِراً مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ مَا حَافَظَ عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ فَإِذَا ضَيَّعَهُنَّ تَجَرَّأَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَدْخَلَهُ فِي الْعَظَائِمِ.

6. Ahmad ibn ‘Abd Allah has narrated from his grandfather from Muhammad ibn Ali from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl from ‘Abd al- Rahman ibn Zayd who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘The land on the Day of Judgment is all fire except the shadow of a believing person. His charity provides him shadow.’”
6ـ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الله عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم) قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) أَرْضُ الْقِيَامَةِ نَارٌ مَا خَلا ظِلَّ الْمُؤْمِنِ فَإِنَّ صَدَقَتَهُ تُظِلُّهُ.

17. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Hammad al-Kufi from ‘Abd Allah ibn Ibrahim al-Ghifari from Ja’far ibn Ibrahim al-Ja’fari from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Whoever comforts the poor with his property and yields to justice for people against his own soul indeed is a believer.”
17ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ الْكُوفِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْغِفَارِيِّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْجَعْفَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) مَنْ وَاسَى الْفَقِيرَ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَأَنْصَفَ النَّاسَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ فَذَلِكَ الْمُؤْمِنُ حَقّاً.

4. From him (Sahl Ibn Ziyad) from Isma’il ibn Mehran from Durust ibn Abu Mansur al-Wasitiy from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar that ‘
Abdul Rahim al-Qasir asked the Imam (as), "Does a deceased believing person visit his family?’". He replied, "Yes, he asks his Lord for permission; then by His permission with two angels he comes to his family in the form of some kind of a bird. He turns around his house and observes his family and hears whatever they say.’”
4ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ الْوَاسِطِيِّ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْقَصِيرِ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لَهُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يَزُورُ أَهْلَهُ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ يَسْتَأْذِنُ رَبَّهُ فَيَأْذَنُ لَهُ فَيَبْعَثُ مَعَهُ مَلَكَيْنِ فَيَأْتِيهِمْ فِي بَعْضِ صُوَرِ الطَّيْرِ يَقَعُ فِي دَارِهِ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيَسْمَعُ كَلاَمَهُمْ.

hadith 464
Meysar narrated that Imam Sadiq (a.s) said
“On the Resurrection Day, a man who is going towards the Fire will see one of your believers and tell you that he has helped you in the world and ask you to help him. Then the believer will ask the angels to let him go, and God will order the angels to let that man enter Heaven.”
عن ميسر عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام) قال
إن المؤمن منكم يوم القيامة ليمر به الرجل وقد أمر به إلى النار، فيقول: يا فلان أغثني، فإني كنت أصنع إليك المعروف في دار الدنيا، فيقول للملك: خل سبيله، فيأمر الله به الملك فيخلي سبيله.

17. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Uramah from (abu) Ibrahim al-‘A’jami from certain individuals of our people from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“A believer is forbearing. He is not ignorant and if he is ignored he remains forbearing. He does not do injustice and if he is oppressed he forgives. He is not stingy, if stinginess is exercised against him he exercises patience.”
17ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أُورَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ الأعْجَمِيِّ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
الْمُؤْمِنُ حَلِيمٌ لا يَجْهَلُ وَإِنْ جُهِلَ عَلَيْهِ يَحْلُمُ وَلا يَظْلِمُ وَإِنْ ظُلِمَ غَفَرَ وَلا يَبْخَلُ وَإِنْ بُخِلَ عَلَيْهِ صَبَرَ.

he heard Abu Abdullah (a) saying: Everything is submissive to the believer. He (a) then added: Allah will cause everything, including vermin, beasts, and birds, to fear the believer if he is sincere to Allah.
وَ بِهَذَا اَلْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ اَلْجَمَّالِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ ع قَالَ
سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اَلْمُؤْمِنَ يَخْشَعُ لَهُ كُلُّ شَيْ‌ءٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ ع إِذَا كَانَ مُخْلِصاً قَلْبَهُ لِلَّهِ أَخَافَ اَللَّهُ مِنْهُ كُلَّ شَيْ‌ءٍ حَتَّى هَوَامَّ اَلْأَرْضِ وَ سِبَاعَهَا وَ طَيْرَ اَلسَّمَاءِ.

10ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْيَمَانِيِّ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي قَوْلِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنَّ الْحَسَناتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئاتِ قَالَ
صَلاَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ بِاللَّيْلِ تَذْهَبُ بِمَا عَمِلَ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ بِالنَّهَارِ.
