hadith 291
Amr ibn Sa'eed ibn Bilal said that he and some other people went to see Imam Baqir (a.s). The Imam (a.s) said: “Lean on the mid-sized cushion so that those who have gone too far return and those who have been too slow reach you. By God, O' followers of the family of Muhammad! Beware that there are no relations of kin between God and us and we have no authority over God. One cannot get close to God except by obeying Him. Our friendship is useful for those who obey God, and is useless for those who are disobedient to Him. Amr said that the Imam (a.s) then turned around, faced them and said: “Do not be fooled, and do not accuse.” Amr asked: “What is meant by the mid-sized cushion?” The Imam (a.s) said: “Have you not noticed that when a group of people enter a house in which there are a variety of cushions, they choose the mid- sized ones to lean on and rest?”
عن عمرو بن سعيد بن بلال قال
دخلت على أبي جعفر (عليه السلام) ونحن جماعة فقال: كونوا النمرقة الوسطى يرجع إليكم الغالي، ويلحق بكم التالي، واعلموا يا شيعة آل محمد، والله ما بيننا وبين الله من قرابة ولا لنا على الله حجة، ولا يتقرب إلى الله إلا بالطاعة، من كان مطيعا نفعته ولايتنا، ومن كان عاصيا لم تنفعه ولايتنا، قال: ثم التفت إلينا وقال: لا تغتروا ولا تفتروا، قلت: وما النمرقة الوسطى؟ قال: ألا ترون أهلا تأتون أن تجعلوا للنمط الأوسط فضله.

hadith 132
9. He said: Abul Hasan ‘Ali ibn Bilal al-Mahlabi reported to me from ‘Ali ibn Abdillah al-Ishfahani, who reported from Ibrahim b Muhammad al-Thaqafi, who reported from Muhammad ibn ‘Ali, who reported from Ibrahim ibn Harasah, who reported from Ja’far ibn Ziyad al-Ahmar, who reported that Zaid ibn al-Husayn, peace be upon him, once read the verse: ’And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the town and there was beneath it a treasure belonging to them; and their father was a righteous man. So your Sustainer (i.e. Allah) willed that they should attain their maturity and bring forth their treasure....’ (al-Kahf, 18: 82) Then he said
"Allah guarded their treasure because of their father’s righteousness; so who is worthier for the best protection than us? The messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his progeny, is our grandfather and his daughter, the leading lady of the women of Paradise, is our mother. And the first one to confirm his faith in Allah, His Oneness, and to offer prayers to Him was our father."
9 - قال: أخبرني أبو الحسن علي بن بلال المهلبي قال: حدثنا علي بن عبد الله الإصفهاني قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن محمد الثقفي قال: أخبرني محمد بن علي قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن هراسة قال: حدثنا جعفر بن زياد الأحمر، عن زيد بن علي بن الحسين عليهما السلام قال
قرأ " وأما الجدار فكان لغلامين يتيمين في المدينة وكان تحته كنز لهما وكان أبوهما صالحا فأراد ربك أن يبلغا أشدهما ويستخرجا كنزهما " ، ثم قال: حفظهما ربهما لصلاح أبيهما، فمن أولى بحسن الحفظ منا؟ رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله جدنا، وابنته سيدة نساء الجنة أمنا، وأول من آمن بالله ووحده وصلى أبونا .
