“Between the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘Your prayer is accepted,’ (10:89) and the time the Pharaoh was seized there was a forty-year timespan.’”

He (Moses) asked for food.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, sent revelation to Moses, thereby asking him, ‘What keeps you from speaking to Me?’ Moses replied, ‘It is to keep away the bad breath of fasting in order to respect your glory.’ Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, then sent him revelation that said, ‘O Moses, bad breath of a fasting person is more beloved to Me than musk.’”

“Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, sent revelations to Moses that said, ‘Of My servant there are those who perform a good deed seeking thereby nearness to Me and I help him to rule in paradise.’ Moses then asked, ‘Lord, what is that good deed?’ Allah said, ‘He walks with his brother (in belief) to help his wish come true, whether it then comes true or not. ’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Of the things that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, revealed to Moses was this: “O Moses, thank Me the way I must be thanked.” Moses said, “O Lord, how can 1 thank You the way You must be thanked while there is no thanking that I may perform but that in it You grant me a (new) favor.” Allah said, “Now you have thanked Me, for realizing that it (the ability to thank) is also from Me.”’”

“Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, sent revelation to Moses asking, ‘Moses, do you know why I chose you to speak to instead of My other creatures?’ He asked, ‘My Lord, why did You do so?’ The Imam said, ‘Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, revealed to Moses, “Moses, I turned My creatures upside down and I did not find anyone of a more humble soul than you. O Moses, whenever you prayed you had been placing your cheek on the soil,” or he said, ‘On earth.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Moses, the prophet, passed on his way to Makkah over the hillsides of al-Rawha’ on a red camel harnessed with fibers. He had two gowns, made in al- Qatwan and said, ‘Here I am, O Gracious Lord, to obey Your command; here I am.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yunus ibn Mathew passed over the hillsides of al-Rawha’ on his way to Makkah, saying, ‘Here I am, O remover of greatly intense suffering; here I am to obey Your command.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Jesus son of Mary passed over the hillsides of al-Rawha’ on his way to Makkah saying, ‘Here I am, Your servant, the son of Your female servant; here I am, to obey Your command, O Lord.’ Muhammad (SAW), passed over the hillsides of al-Rawha’ on his way to Makkah, saying, ‘Here I am to obey your command, O Most Exalted Lord; here I am to obey Your command.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, sent revelations to Moses that said, “the most beloved of things to Me with which My servants can seek nearness to Me are three things.” Moses then asked, ‘Lord, what are they?’ The Lord said, ‘One’s reduced interest in worldly matters, restraint from sins and weeping for fear of Me.’ Moses asked, ‘Lord, what is then the reward for one who would do so?’ Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, sent him revelation that said, ‘Moses, people with reduced interest in the world will be in paradise, those weeping for fear of Me will be in a high position with whom no one else will share and those restraining from sins for their reward will have the privilege of freedom from My searching their affairs when I search all other people.’”

Prophet Musa (a.s) was once walking along the sea shore when a fisherman came by and prostrated himself before the Sun, uttering words of polytheism. Then he threw his fishing net in (to the sea) and drew it out filled (with fish). Then he threw it in again and once again it came out full. Once more he repeated this and once again it came out full until he was satisfied then he departed. Then another man came along, performed the ablution and stood in prayer, praising and glorifying Allah. Then he flung his net in but drew it back empty. So he repeated it and again he met with no success. Once again, he threw his net in and this time he caught a small fish. So, he praised and thanked Allah and went off. Seeing this, Musa (a.s) called out, 'O Lord! When Your servant came along and denied You, praying to the Sun and uttering blasphemy, his net was filled in with fish repeatedly until he was satisfied and left. And when Your believing servant came along, performed the ablution, prayed, glorified, praised and supplicated to You and then threw his net in, he received nothing but a small fish?' So, Allah [M.G] revealed to him, 'O Musa! Look to your right.' Musa looked and it was revealed to him what Allah [M.G] had set aside (in reward) for the believing servant. Then it was said to him, 'O Musa, now look to your left.' And he saw what (punishment) was awaiting the disbelieving servant. Then Allah [M.G] spoke, 'O Musa, (in reality) the one whom I gave did not benefit anything and nor did the one I denied lose anything.'' O Lord!' responded Musa (a.s), '(Indeed) it is the duty of all that know You to be content with whatever You do (for them).'
