a man from Sijistan came to him and said: "We have dirhams called al-Shamiyyah that are valued two daniqs more than regular dirhams." Imam (as) said: "There is no harm in it; it is permissible."

he said: "Testimonies are invalidated in cases of usury (riba) and bias (janaf). If the witnesses say, 'We do not know,' then release them. However, if they are found to have known, then they should be disciplined (ta'zir)."

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘It is permissible to exchange wheat with flour in equal measures and sawiq (mush) of wheat with mush and barley with wheat in equal measures, is not harmful.’”

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the case of a man who gives foodstuff to a flour man under a contract that requires him to return for every ten Artal (plural of ritl, a certain unit of measurement) twelve Artal of flour. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is not permissible.’ I then asked about sesame given under a contract to an oil man who guarantees for every Sa‘ a certain Ritl (a certain unit of measurement). He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is not permissible.’”

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about his opinion on wheat and the sawiq (mush made of wheat or barley). He (the Imam) said, ‘Their exchange in equal measures is not harmful.’ I then asked, ‘What happens if one has a certain yield or preference over the other?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Does it not have expenses and maintenance?’ I replied, ‘Yes, it has such overheads.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘This is for that.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘If they are two different things then exchange of one for two at the same time is permissible.’”

Whoever gains wealth from four [sources], it will not be accepted in four [situations]: whoever gains wealth from (1) embezzlement, (2) usury, (3) betrayal, and (4) thievery, it will not be accepted in: (1) zakat, (2) charity (sadaqa), (3) Hajj, and (4) `Umra. Abu Ja`far (as) said: Allah will not accept a Hajj or an `Umra from forbidden wealth.

I asked Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB), ‘May I be your ransom! Why do we believe that our opponents areatheists and will go to Hell, but we do not believe that we ourselves and our companions are going to go to Paradise?’ The Imam (MGB) replied, ‘That is due to your own weakness. You should know that you will go to Paradise, if you do not commit any major sins.’ I asked, ‘What are the major sins?’ The Imam (MGB) said, ‘The greater of the major sins are associating others as partners with the Honorable the Exalted God; emigration from an Islamic environment; damnation of parents; accusing pious women of fornication; fleeing from a holy war; oppressively devouring the properties of an orphan; usury after having clear proof of its forbiddance ; and murdering a believer.’ I asked the Imam (MGB), ‘What about adultery and stealing?’ The Imam (MGB) replied, ‘They are not like the above.’”The compiler of the book - may God be pleased with him - said, “The various narrations in this book which differ in the quantity of major sins are not really that different from each other, although some state that there are five major sins, while others have stated that there are seven, eight and even more major sins. However, these are not different from each other since after the sin of associating partners with God which is the greatest major sin, the other sins are somewhat greater than the following ones, and every other major sin is less than the sin of associating a partner with God.”
